ISDN / Multiline
ISDN (Telstra) or Multiline (Optus) services utilise digital technology to deliver voice services to businesses. ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is the international communication standard for digital transmission along telephone lines.
ISDN 2 is the starter level, providing two channels on your ISDN line. ISDN 2 can be ordered in multiples of 2/4/6/8 channels allowing it to grow with your business. Larger businesses usually look to connect 10+ voice channels and have the ability to grow the number of lines on the service as the need arises.
The main benefit of ISDN and Multiline services are access to improved call transfer and call forward options and the ability to overlay a large number range across the service. A 100 number range for example can operate across the service allowing you to access direct indial services. Direct indial allows you to allocate a specific number to a specific handset on your PABX enabling callers to avoid calling the main number and finding their way directly to a specific person in the organisation.
It is also important to ensure your current telephone system is capable of connecting to an ISDN/Multiline service as to do so it requires a Primary Rate Interface. ISP Connect can assist in establishing if your current phone system is compatible and offers excellent value plans for both ISDN and Multiline across either the Telstra or Optus networks.
